Foram adquiridas um total de 54 carruagens (numera\u00e7\u00e3o M-501 a M-554) e atingem uma velocidade m\u00e1xima de 72\u00a0km\/h. As composi\u00e7\u00f5es desta s\u00e9rie s\u00e3o uma evolu\u00e7\u00e3o da s\u00e9rie anterior (ML 95) e s\u00e3o compostas por unidades motoras e reboques agrupados em unidades triplas com uma motora em cada ponta e um reboque no meio (motora\/reboque\/motora), podendo tamb\u00e9m circular em unidades duplas sem o reboque (motora\/motora).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Embora muito semelhantes \u00e0s das duas s\u00e9ries anteriores, as carruagens da s\u00e9rie ML 97 s\u00e3o facilmente distingu\u00edveis destas, al\u00e9m da numera\u00e7\u00e3o, pela liga\u00e7\u00e3o entre as carruagens ser feita atrav\u00e9s de uma sec\u00e7\u00e3o em fole, que permite aumentar ligeiramente a sua lota\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>Atingem uma velocidade m\u00e1xima de 72 Km p\/hora. Circularam, durante cerca de 1 ano, em simult\u00e2neo com o ML 7 e cerca de 4 com o ML 79.
