Metro working hours
The Lisbon Metro operates every day, including weekends, from 6:30 a.m to 1:00 a.m (time of departure of the last train from the terminal stations of each line).
Until what age can children travel for free on the Metro network?
Children under 3 may accompany fare-paying passengers free of charge. Children aged 4 to 12 years are entitled to travel free of charge on the Metro if holders of a “Child” Lisboa viva card (a card with the letter “C”, as shown below).
What do you need to travel on our network?
To travel on the Metro you must hold a valid electronic card topped up with valid Metro tickets.
What cards are available to travel on the Metro?
There are two types of cards available:
– The viva viagem card, to top with occasional tickets;
– The navegante card, to top up with travel passes and/or zapping credit.
What transport tickets are available to travel on the Metro?
There are two types of Metro tickets:
1) Occasional tickets for non frequent users (e.g. single journey ticket, daily ticket or zapping credit);
2) Travel passes for regular Metro users (e.g. Navegante, intermodal or combined passes).

How much does the viva viagem card cost?
It costs €0,50 and it is valid for one year.
Can the viva viagem card be used by more than one person?
No. The viva viagem card can only be used by a single user per journey. Its use by several passengers simultaneously for the same journey is considered an offense and may be subject to a fine. Each user must hold a valid ticket.
