The third phase of the Baixa-Chiado station’s ongoing project to improve and modernize accessibility is now underway. This phase focuses on improving the last set of escalators that provide access to Largo do Chiado.

Starting on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, the work will primarily involve sealing off escalators 2, 4, and 6 and setting up the construction site. During this time, customers are advised to use the stairs or the escalators in the upward direction, as they will remain operational.

Passengers may continue to use this entrance via the stairs (approximately 183 steps) or the entry at Rua do Crucifixo, about 400m (5 minutes) away.

For wheelchair access, the existing platform lift at the Crucifixo Street entrance remains available. To request assistance use the help point next to the hand rail.

This work is expected to last 6 months.
